How many times have you heard that brushing and flossing are important to your oral health? Had you heard that you should brush your teeth twice every day for two minutes at a time or that it’s best to start brushing in a different part of your mouth each time? However, while brushing properly is crucial to your oral health, did you know that you should also consider caring for your brush properly?
In reality, if you’re using the wrong brush, you might be damaging your teeth. You see, a brush with hard bristles can actually affect the protective, outer layer of your pearly whites. Brushing too hard might also have the same effect. Generally, we recommend replacing your toothbrush once every four months, though you may also need to consider buying a new brush after you have a cold.
You’ll also need to care for your brush if you’d like your smile to be as healthy as possible. Naturally, we recommend rinsing your brush out with water each time you use it, but did you know that you should also store your brush upright in an open area? Doing so will let your brush air dry. If you keep your brushes in a dark, enclosed area, bacteria and germs could grow, which will leave you more vulnerable to decay.
